All men die; most men never live

We often resonate with metaphors in ways we are unable to achieve when simply presented with a scenario or task at hand.

The use of metaphors that enable the awareness of choice was especially powerful for me in this dialogue.

The exchange, and I would even like to call it an interchange, was visually and verbally gradually presented – a tool that was skilfully employed to show how the change possible at the beginning was then actualized in a way that transcended and included.

The Workings of Metaphor

“A metaphor consists in the juxtaposing of two elements that share some basic congruence: the characteristics of one set are now seen as appropriate -or dissonant-for the other.  Another way to say the same thing is by using the image of screens.  We sieve the characteristics of one realm through the screen of a different one, watching to see what suits and what does not, and why. Far from simply classifying what we already know, the metaphor pushily and invasively issues an invitation to reconsider such knowledge in a fresh light, putting our certainties at risk in the process but also inviting us into new worlds.”
