To be continued ...

This is an attempt at writing not a “history” but a “westory” – the story of not one of us, but of all of us.

This “westory” will be just that in more than one way.

Envisioned, is a story written by more than one person, a story with many authors – a collaborative effort on the part of many members of Integral Life.

What the story will develop into cannot be predetermined at this point in time - its theme will evolve.  It will be an evolving story with a genre made up of many sub-genres. What these will be, will also emerge along with the story.

To achieve this, the following guidelines are offered:

-          Contributions may be a continuation of the existing chapter or begin a new one.

-          The story will determine when a new chapter should be introduced.

-          Every contributor may make as many contributions as they wish.  It is however requested that no contributor makes two contributions in a row.

-          To maintain flow and interest, it is suggested that each contribution be no longer than fifteen lines.

-          If possible, incorporate integral theory and ideas.

-          Let us aim for the “westory” to have levels of meaning so that it can be read by all ages and be appealing to all, no matter where they find themselves on the conveyor belt of life.

-          The name of our “westory” - “To be continued ...”  should end each contribution. That way we will be back where we started and yet be somewhere else, simultaneously.

Keylim

The sun was barely rising when the keyhole limpet left the ocean.  The little shell was no longer afloat and had been washed up onto the shore.  A new phase of her existence was about to begin.

She had entered a new world and was no longer surrounded by water, fish and algae. She could see the sea in the distance but seemed to soon forget about it as she attempted to focus on her new home, which was one of sand wherever she looked.  It was a rather beige world which sometimes took on tints of infrared and magenta from the rising sun, depending on which way one looked at it.

Keylim, as she was called, was a shell with a tiny opening at the top of her head.  She blended in well and was hardly aware that she was any different from her surroundings.

“What is that over there?” she questioned, as she spotted another shell whose width was greater than its height. It was a top shell, brick-red in colour, with two rows of black dots on each whorl and on the base.  There were also white dots occurring on some of the granules and it had a rather wide opening as its base.

“Strawberry!”  Keylim nicknamed what she was seeing as she tried to catch the other shell’s attention.

Here and Now

--Linda, Great idea - I will give it a try...

"Hey Strawberry, can you hear me?" Keylim said louder. "Can you tell me where I am?"

"You are here," said Strawberry in a calm voice.

"I know, but where is here?" Keylim inquired again.

"On the sand," said Strawberry.

"Yes, but can you tell me about his new land? What shall I do?" Keylim tried harder to elicit more information from her only companion on the beach.

"Whatever you did before," replied Strawberry with the same assuredness.

Keylim wondered if this creature was very smart, but continued her story with enthusiam, realizing her new friend may not understand her situation, "I just arrived from the great ocean.  I am excited to discover and explore this new world.  Surely I will discover amazing creatures and forces of nature much different from my previous life.  Surely it will change me.  I hope to learn this knowledge and share it with all those who are stuck in the ocean."

Strawberry turned towards Keylim, "They will not understand your words.  Everything and every creature has it's place. Your place is here and now.  Do not forget this on your journey." Keylim thought about what Strawberry had said and pondered his calm confidence.  But, she thought it better to leave her beautiful, but puzzling friend and explore this grand new world on her own.  She kindly thanked Strawberry and continued on her way across the sand.
