Mahendra Trivedi
Having read Ken’s piece “Toward a Comprehensive Theory of Subtle Energies”, (especially Part 2, “An Integral Theory of Subtle Energies”), many times, I was fascinated today to learn about the work of Mahendra Trivedi, of whom Ken has written a piece entitled “A Narrative on Guruji”.
In this piece we are reminded of the fact that each major epoch in humankind’s history so far (foraging, horticultural, agrarian, industrial and informational) has had an accompanying worldview (archaic, magic, mythic, modern, postmodern) and a specific type of consciousness
Much evidence at this point in time goes to show that we are on the brink of yet another epoch with a new type of consciousness – the Integral age with integral consciousness.
Each stage of evolutionary unfolding brings with it a subtle energetic shift and so Integral consciousness in the upper left quadrant will be driven by a corresponding energy in the upper right quadrant. In Ken’s words, “According to Integral Theory, every state of type of consciousness is accompanied by a specific type of energy (gross physical energy, subtle bioenergy, causal spiritual energy), and so the emergence of this new consciousness should be accompanied by a new degree of energy along that spectrum.”
Mahendra Trivedi, affectionately referred to as Guruji, has said that the time has come to “do consciousness” and thereby start vibrating with the energy of universal consciousness. According to him, the earth has already entered a new energy field. He has been referred to as a healer and many of his “blessings” are being empirically tested with amazing results. A conduit of this energy, he brings about the recalibration of energy. (You can listen to him speaking here)
The contemplative traditions have pointed to this energy for millennia, but many people still today are unaware of the existence of bioenergy or prana, not to mention spiritual energy.
In my opinion, there have been individuals throughout the ages who have been conduits of forms of this energy, but the critical mass in each of the previous ages has not been ready to understand these concepts. This unreadiness has led to this energy being misinterpreted. In the horticultural age with its magic worldview it was seen as magic, in the agrarian age with its mythic worldview it was viewed as being miraculous, in the industrial age with its modern worldview the baby was thrown out with the bathwater as it was said that such energy could not be proved with the tools of modern science, and in the informational age with its postmodern worldview this energy is often presented in a “New Agey” way without substance - a regressive format which succumbs to the pre/trans fallacy.
Has the time come for energies to be not only better understood but also resonated with?
Trivedi speaks of a unification of the sub-conscious rear brain with the self-conscious forebrain. These are words and a language that science is willing to listen to.
Religious traditions in the past have spoken of the disharmony between lower and higher natures, and of the lower self and the higher self. Some traditions pointed out that this higher self was to be found in the subconscious department. Could this be the sub-conscious rear brain? Misunderstanding in the past led to the ego being viewed in a totally negative fashion. Total abandonment of the ego became the goal presented in many spiritual paths. The understanding that it was to be transcended and included only came later, leading eventually to the recent understanding of the Unique Self.
It appears that the time has come for the heart and mind connection to be properly made.
I am no expert in this field, but listening to people who have received a “blessing” from Trivedi, or who have heard him speak at the Sages and Scientists Symposium, one cannot but feel that we will definitely be hearing more about Mahendra Trivedi in the near future.

Waves
Posted June 9th, 2010 by shamansunHey Linda,
Glad to see you post something up here on IL! I can tell you're inspired from the twitter discussion because those words are just flowing out of you. Trivedi is a fascinating fellow and I hope his work continues to impact the culture in a way that "shocks" it into beginning to experience these subtle energies. It might help open the floodgates of a new paradigm. He's right! The energy is here already, just bursting forth and pouring in. It's the "old world" so to speak that is getting shaky and no longer able to support itself in a new environment. I hope he can shed good light on subtle energies so they are not instantly rejected as "metaphysical" or "new agey."
Love to you,
Jer

fascinating
Posted June 9th, 2010 by stefanoThanks for posting this, I for one had no idea Wilber had written that.
For me this ties in with a problem I've sorta had for the last 20 years. I used to be in a growth group but it quickly became apparent that I simply couldn't get anything useful done. What I learnt seemed contradictory. On the one hand I could have interesting little coincidences like, predicting down to the minute the time at which someone would call me, and I did this 8 hours in advance! On the other hand, the simplest projects made me look like an idiot with his brain on backwards. So I gave up. There seemed to be a way to be more connected to life, but I for one appeared to be getting the connection wrong inside my own head. What use making long term plans and commitments to projects and dreams, when I couldn't organise myself to keep the house tidy?
I was really excited when Integral Life Practice added "Shadow" as a completely individual category of work. This made huge sense. Sure, the human being has great potential, but who's driving the bus? I'd long realised it wasn't me.
If integral awareness really does integrate the front and back, so to speak, then that will be huge. You know how much easier it is when people just own up to what their real intentions are? That alone is pretty awesome.
Of course, I don't wish to underestimate the potential of "blessing fields to grow" -- but I'd be pretty happy if I could just bless my own self to keep the house immaculate.
I hope it doesn't turn out to be like the older generation and computers. I see people in their 80s who feel terribly left behind by technology. Just the other day I was wondering, yeah, when I'm old, I'll bet all the kids are flinging subtle energies around and I just won't get it.

Resonating
Posted June 21st, 2010 by Linda HollierI'm delighted to discover that "A Narrative on Guruji" by Ken Wilber has been officially posted on Integral Life.
It is my sincere wish that this will spark even more discussion on Trivedi's blessings and spread the light of what he is doing.

Unification!
Posted June 9th, 2010 by Mary Linda LandauerHello dear friend, and thank you for this very important post. Yes, I agree with you that the time is right for us to better understand the powerful, subtle energies that correspond to higher levels of consciousness. I believe enough awakened beings on the planet now are using these energies in the most profound way. Mahendra Tridedi being an example. We all have within us this capacity to open to these powerful, complex energies that make the energies of physical science flawed without them. Yet, when we can harness this higher field, holding these more subtle energies, and what I believe is the highest form of love, we are on our way home to true Unification. This is so exciting isn't it.
Love this post and love you dear friend,
Mary Linda
