Meditation on the rocks

Focus on the waves.

Imaginary conversations playing themselves out in my head.  Listen to them.

Focus on the waves.

A possible Twitter comment pops its head up.  Mentally note it.

Focus on the waves.

Besides the swishing of the water, there is the crescendo of the waves breaking further out and the sound of splashing spray of others breaking on the rocks.  Listen to it all.

Focus on the waves.

Overhead a small yellow aircraft passes, then a helicopter and then a microlight. See this.

Focus on the waves.

A sudden visitor seems to appear from nowhere - a crayfish catcher! Empties his catch in a pool close by me, then crosses the rocks and goes back in to look for more.

Focus on the waves.

Worries, concerns and emotions.  Watch them.

Focus on the waves.

Curiosity gets the better of me and I peep into the pool of water nearby.  Can see six big whoppers.

Focus on the waves.

Can feel the sand sticking to my feet and the wind blowing against my skin.

Focus on the waves.

After I don't know how long the crayfish catcher returns.  No further catch.  Gathers everything and smiles at me as he leaves.

I realize it is time for me to leave as well.

waves of awareness.

Hi Linda,

Very meditative poem - I enjoyed it. I felt like I was really there with the vivid imagery.  What a nice place to get in the groove of awareness.  I find the waves very meditative also - except my waves are on lakes, only when it is windy.

thanks for this!

meditative discipline and inexorable life

Hi Anne - I like the story of your watching the waves as you focus your attention. Your intention could be the chorus and the irrepressible larger inner and outer life the lyrical story. Yes, waves without end. Thanks,
