#mobileart

Today I am starting a project which I am calling #mobileart.

I have decided to call it this for many reasons.

It will contain photographs taken using my mobile phone.

The photos will be taken when I am out walking.

These photos will be shared via the web and will therefore immediately become mobile. (I will be sharing them on twitpic and you will be able to find them by searching for those marked #mobileart)

The photos might be of art in its various forms.

They might also be of shapes that strike me as being in a state of movement.

The project will be ongoing.

The fact that #mobileart contains a hash tag indicates that it is searchable and will show all the photographs I have taken in the form of a stream.  This stream will flow as more photographs are added. (For those of you on Twitter, simply search #mobileart for real-time results)

It is my wish that these photos will capture the movement of Spirit in His/Her/Its/Our/My/Your  various forms.

Hopefully too, these photos will be a sharing of a consciousness on the move.

The start of the project takes place in Dubai, which was once a land of Bedouins – nomads in the desert, and so the theme of wandering, mobility and art is perhaps appropriate.

For the Bedouins home had a different meaning to the way it is understood today in the west and in much of the east. Wherever the Bedouins were they were at a center which was always changing as they wandered through the borderless desert. Habitation was not fixed. It was temporary and always suggested the probability of immediate movement.

In the ecology of the desert, life was interconnected and a sense of community was strong. Wandering was an act of connectedness.

Many of these concepts are receiving renewed focus in this age of mobility and the resulting global village, and I will attempt to capture them in my photographs.

I do not know if this type of project has been embarked upon before but I am having fun attempting  it and sharing it with you all.
