No boundaries without boundaries
It became crystal clear to me today that without first setting distinct boundaries for oneself and in one’s relationships, one will never be able to reach the point where all boundaries disappear. Although this sounds like a contradiction of terms – no boundaries without boundaries – it is what gradually happens as one moves through the various levels of development.
The infant who does not move beyond the stage of realizing where its body stops and its physical environment begins can later on in life be subject to psychosis.
When the emotional bodyself cannot differentiate itself from others, others are often treated as extensions of the self (the result of which can be narcissism) or others constantly are part of the self’s very fragile boundaries (resulting possibly in borderline disorders).
And so possible pathologies can result throughout development when transcendence and inclusion fail to occur because of a lack of boundaries.
And then one day, when all the healthy boundaries have been set, they suddenly all disappear and one is one with everything in the Kosmos! One’s identity is without boundaries!
“No Boundary” was the second book Ken wrote but he says in the preface to the 2001 edition that although he later refined various points “the essentials-such as the spectrum of consciousness itself –are still as presented here, which is probably another reason this book has remained so popular.”
It is a book certainly worth looking at again.

Thank you
Posted April 3rd, 2009 by KammHi Linda,
Hope you are well.
I finished reading No Boundaries last night. Thank you for the suggestion.
His final offering in the last chapter of stating that "it," evolution of self, is a practice of full involvement: not just an hour a day, or a Sunday in church.
This to me is full time self mindfulness, full time personal "shrink" that I can be to myself.
Did you see yourself in the various levels? I did.
I am again in awe of his clarity to provide such a good framework on which to hang my various hats.
Be well,
K

Borders and no.
Posted March 16th, 2009 by KammBorders No More Is the name of the cd that I picked up on my trip this week. Glenn Morgan was kind enough to play Katyusha for us on the dulcimer.
Funny.
