"For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."                                                                                                                       Nelson Mandela

I was born in Pretoria, South Africa, will be living in Dubai, UAE, for the next few years, and am very happily married with two grown up daughters, a son-in-law and a grandson.

I started off my career as a high school teacher, after having completed a B.A. degree in English and Mathematics as well as a Higher Education Diploma.  During the almost ten years we lived in Germany, I did voluntary work at a hospice.  Currently, I manage a family business from home.

Brought up in the Christian tradition, I was introduced to the Eastern traditions by the journals of Thomas Merton. The writings of Brother Wayne Teasdale and Father Thomas Keating introduced me to Ken Wilber, and since reading and studying his works, there has been what I can only describe as a transformative shift in my whole way of being.

I love travelling and am an avid reader.
