Dark Night of the Senses/Tozan's Second Level

I have all those states/emotions/experiences, but I attribute it to my stage of development.  Any suggestions on how to move on would be appreciated.

suggestions on how to move on

 Hi Mark,

I'm probably the last person who should suggest anything, especially because I haven't even listened to or watched the presentation.  Unfortunately, I don't have a premium membership.  But from what I have learned so far from all the free content is that there are no easy solutions, short cuts, secret paths and even if there were, each of us is unique in our individual make-up and our circumstances so even if someone did find an easy solution, the chances are it wouldn't work for anyone else.

It seems to me (and I could be wrong because I'm very new here), is that 'moving on' or evolving or continuing with our human development consciously (as opposed to unconsciously), is to just keep doing more of the same and to keep watching.

So with relation to this article (the one I do have access to ), I would assume that we need to find a sustainable program of exercise, eat healthy foods, get outside into the green, surround ourselves with growing people as much as possible, have some fun, relax, meditate, develop some spiritual awareness and help/support other beings (I think that plants and animals count too here, or maybe not, not sure about that, perhaps someone could clarify that for me).

Phew!  after getting through all that, I think anyone would be too exhausted to be anxious.

I'm not sure what experiences, states and emotions you are struggling with (or maybe enjoying, you didn't specify), but what about taking those states, emotions and experiences with you and keep living your integral lifestyle and keep watching for changes.  I read somewhere that its by watching, that things change, not by trying to force change.

Feel the flow

Hi Mark,

Besides exercise and relaxation/breath work what has softened my anxiety has been learning about using attention.

Specifically when I feel myself contracting { it usually happens when I watch to much TV } I make sure I turn it off and go down to the park and practice placing my attenion on different forms. Like a picnic table, then shift my attention to another form like the tree to my left, then shift again lets say to the squirrel that I see in the distance.

I do this shifting of attention for about 20 to 30 minutes til I Feel a flow to my attention and a freedom withing mySELF.

Like anything else it is a practice and what this practice does is quite the mind . It frees your attention up and gets it of some story or some identity that is not so appreciating, and we practing extending appreciation to different objects,  both animate and inanimate.

I know it sounds stupid , but it has made a diferrence in the quality of my life and felt moved by the Spirit to share it with you.

Bill
