Heavy Heart!

Oil spill, floods, earth quakes and on going wars on the ground and in the minds. My heart is heavy.

I was born in New Orleans, La. I spent the first thirty years of my life walking along the beaches of La., Mississippi and Alabama. I watched my children frolic in the waters, and we often sat by the water's edge to feel the tide rush along our feet and legs. Birds, crabs, and seashells lined the beaches where my eyes gazed out towards the horizon to watch the sun either rise or set. My whole being felt in those final moments, as the sun set or rose, that a greater Presence sat with me....that in a final moment; where the sun, water, sky, land and my intake of breath touched was the kiss of the beloved.

Today I watched the waters roll in with globs of oil along those same beaches. This is only the beginning of 59 days of continued oil being pumped into our waters. I have memories of being with my family and going to our favorite 'hole in the wall resturant' where we savored on the best seafood, brought in fresh from those waters, now drenched in oil. Many of those fishermen and resturants are in dire fear of losing their jobs and livlihood...some already have. My heart is heavy.

Today I watched floods of water rushing through streets and homes in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Many are dead, others still missing. Cries ring out of pain and suffering from these people. I watched a young soldier break down and cry telling his war story of being in Afganistain......My heart is heavy.

Our issues and concerns are real here, but they shrink in comparison to what we are witnessing now on our planet. If we are an interconnected family and planet, and my heart says we are, then lets come together and hold our energies in the most loving and compassionate way together; sending forth our intentions for humanity's healing and awakening. And for our beautiful planet we all live on together.

My heart is heavy but its also strong and holds the power of my Soul. So does yours....I believe we have unique powers within us to change our limited expressions and become stewards of service for each other and this world. These subtle energies are ready to be awakened and sustain us in ways we can only imagine. But we must let go those energies of separation that limit and flaw us before opening to these powerful energies of unification. We need each other and our planet needs us.

Please join me.

With all my love,

Mary Linda

Yes

If we open our eyes even a little we can't help but to see the terrible suffering in the World. Ken reminds us that at this point most suffering is caused by humans. This means that it can be solved by humans. Let's all join together to do what we can. At least we can offer our prayers.

I'm glad you are able to hold your strength. I was listining to the talks by Genpo Merzel yesterday. He asked what would Big Heart be without Big Mind?  I thought that without the strength of Big Mind, Big Heart could not bear to survive even for one more moment.

Do you still live close to the Gulf

Hi Mary, As I read your post, I thought you might not be informed about how bad this disaster really is. If you live close to the Gulf, you will have to leave. They will not be able to stop the LEAKS at all. It will go on for years. This will be the beginning of WWIII and a huge change for humanity. The air will become more toxic and the rain will be toxic. My heart goes out to you. You will need to prepare to move if you still live there.

Alchemical intention.

These days I am paying a lot more attention to healing practices of all kinds. The oil spill is one of the many instances in which it is so easy for us to fall into despondency. The problem is so big and we begin to feel helpless. Those pathetic birds and other ocean creatures, dead or gasping for air in the hands of the many helpers. Yes, it is felt as heaviness in the heart and so we cry. Tears are an overflowing from our deepest love, when our deepest love cannot hold the pain we see in our world.

And so, in between the tears or along with them one could say, we listen to our heart's counsel for solutions. What can I do to help? Much wisdom and intentional prayers are coming from a wide variety of sources. There is no doubt in my mind that we need to raise our energies to higher levels of effectiveness and our commitment to "do something about" the Earth's problems. We could begin by taking responsability for the fact that it is our thirst for oil (Ughhh!) that has played a big part in this devastation. Pointing fingers at "them" is not going to help much. Rather we could hold the intention collectively to empower and guide the experts trying to solve the problem as soon as they can, if not sooner.

These are a few suggestions coming for one of the wisest people I know, the amazing Jean Houston:

►Envision the Earth's capacity to reduce the pressure that's spewing the oil and to find another channel underground into which it can flow. At the same time, thank the Earth and her Oceans for their loving support of all living beings.

►Decide on a time of the day to focus mindful compassion to relieve the anguish experienced by others and secondly, on collectively stopping the spill.

►Give hand-on help, in person or through contributions, to help with the clean-up.

►Empower others working on alternate energy resources.

►Notice what happens in your mind and heart when you do these practices.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who are affected in the area, but we are all affected. Concentrated loving-kindness - Here we cal all be of real use. Let's collectively hold this intention. It is powerful!

Healing to Mother-earth and love to all her living children.

Marita.

Humility and Compassion

My heart is also heavy ... my family is in Pensacola.  The restaurants and fishing boats that put me through college and have supported my family for generations are now shut down, likely not to open again.  These businesses survived the waist high water and devastation of Ivan, the treacherous tourist economy of the past few years, and the long lasting blow of Katrina, only to cease to exist because of human carelessness and greed.

I have hope though that lasting good will come of this.  How can we as a people watch this happen and not become smart enough to make it very, very profitable for companies to produce immediately viable alternatives to oil?  Academic superiority aside, there are times when a good engineer has to figure a way to produce the desired result using the existing flawed system.  Perhaps also some positive creative energy will go into finding innovative and effective ways to clean up the mess.  Perhaps only by recovering from these self-induced disasters (oh my am I thinking there have been parallels in my own life?) will we become wiser ... and more evolved in that community quadrant.

We need to find a way to identify companies that are doing the right things from an evolutionary standpoint and drive business to them.  Not companies who shout about their "green-ness", but companies that are truly moving in the right direction.  The president has the right idea but nothing of substance is happening.  How can we as a community come up with some practical ways to push our society, ignorance, warts, and all, in the right direction?

Peace,

Ashley
