Attempting to write a Cook-Greuter based fiction book exploring each of the ten levels of consciousness

Hi, my name's Matt and I'm hoping to write a book that's based on Susanne Cook-Greuter's theory of ten stages of mental development, where it uses a fictional story of an immortal woman to explore the various stages of spiritual, political, and mental realms, based in a loose sense of the following.

1: Prehistoric: Covering the Pre-Social Infant Stage

The mental stage is based around a union with the mother-figure and a slow realization of separate self.

The spiritual stage is the pantheist view, where one feels connected to the world through the fact that all things give breath (spirit), and where nature is seen as a matriarchal figure.

The political stage at this moment is hunter-gatherer tribes to early agricultural societies.

2:  Ancient: Covering the Instinctive Stage

The mental stage is based around an impulses, seeing the world in black and white, and where morality is based around oneself not getting caught.

The spiritual stage is animism, seeing of the world as made of separate spirits (animal spirits, weather spirits, heavenly spirits, plant spirits), which one has to negotiate with in attempts to get what one wants.

The political stage is the early council-based and law-based communities.

3: Classical: Covering the Self-Protective/Opportunistic Stage

The mental stage is based around seeing the world as needs and wants, and asserting one's will, being manipulative and exploitive.

The spiritual stage is based around polytheism, where a pantheon of gods rules the world, like Ancient Greece or the Elohim (plural), and battle between one another, manipulating the world and fighting amongst one another (eg Zorastarianism, Norse Mythology).

The political stage is early kingdoms and empires with myths and philosophy.

4: Medieval: Covering the Conformist/Diplomat Stage

The mental stage is based around people seeing themselves as members of a group, basing themselves on the rules of the group "us" versus "them".

The spiritual stage is the large major monotheistic religions, such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The political stage is feudal and monotheistic based societies, such as Medieval Europe.

5: Gunpowder: Covering the Self-Conscious/Expert Stage

The mental stage is where one can sit back and look at oneself from a distance, seeing beyond the "self" and "other" distinction, taking on the third-person perspective, dealing with abstract objects and concepts.

The spiritual stage is the Humanist religions, where one's free-will and 'following Christ' or being 'made in the likeness of god' is about one being a god-like being here on earth. This is also the beginning of the beliefs of Freemasons and Illuminti, where enlightened individuals exist secretly away from the monarchs and priests. The era of Protestantism and Sikhism.

The political stage is the colonial era, such as during the 16th and 17th century AD. This is the surge of individual artists and the beginning of using one's free will and reasoning mind to create measured empirical science.

6: Enlightenment: Covering the Conscientious/Achiever Stage.

The mental stage is where one begins to see themselves in the light of the past and future, where they are more rational, being deeply responsible and moral.

The spiritual stage is the scientific view, where the enlightened or illumined man now applies his mind to the study of the structure of the world around him, where the creator is seen as a Grand Architect or Intelligent Designer.  This is the continuation of Freemasonry, as well as the beginning of Mormon Church.

The political stage is the independent democratic nations such as USA in 18th and 19th century AD, with the power of steam engines, romanticism, human rights, democracy and atomic theory is being developed.

7: Industrial: Covering the Individualist/Pluralist Stage

The mental stage is self reflection deepens, where people understand that things depend on the relation of the observer. Relativism, postmodernism.

The spiritual stage is the beginning of the inclusivity of other religions and their beliefs by such faiths as the Babi and Bahai Faith.

The political stage is capitalist, liberalist, communist or socialist based industrial nations covering the 19th and very early 20th century.

8: Modern: Covering the Autonomous Stage

The mental stage is where people take a systems approach to things, where people can integrate their own polarities such as merging the Id, Ego and Superego using psychology.

The spiritual stage is the beginning of the New Thought era, also called Law of Attraction, which is based around the empowering of the individual, an integration of themselves and nature such as Wiccan, or the beginning of seeing oneself as a three-part body that is part of many stages of an extensive community, such as in Scientology.

The political stage is welfare states or fundamentally fascist states, such as Nazism.

9: Information: Covering the Construct-Aware/Magician Stage

The mental stage is where people move into a fifth person view, where the person is able to see through the ego themselves where the self is a series of constructs developed to protect the ego, thus wanting to move beyond the ego.

The spiritual stage is the beginning of more inclusive-based group-centered thinking such as New Age or Star Wars (Jedism) based spirituality, where one is part of a collective, also including Matrixism, Conversations with God and What the Bleep Do We Know.

The political stage is the post-industrial roboticised, computerised, and optically-fibre linked cybernetic globalised world of today.

10: Future: Covering the Unitive or Ironist Stage

The mental stage is where one is able to view one's own ego with honesty and without feeling a need to protect it. Persons at this stage see themselves as part of all humanity.

The spiritual stage is late era Matrixism, Conversations with God and WHat The Bleep Do We Know, as the basic forerunners of the new spiritual unitive revolution.

The political stage is sustainable, transhumanist or posthumanist society, able to upload consciousness onto the fabric of space time and becoming one with the literal universe.

Good Idea

This looks like a good summary of her work. Thank you. Using fiction to express complex ideas sounds like a good idea. Being able to look at one's ego honestly without getting upset is a good goal.

hmm..

Sounds very interesting. Not sure about some of your choices though. For example, "What the Bleep.." is not terribly Integral, is it? Green meme, YES, but same ol' same ol', no?
