Voting for the upside of the spiral

As per usual with major US politics, our choice is clear as mud.  It is not in the interest of either
candidate to actually provide substantial analysis of the issues to the mass of voters.  It
is a kind of selling, to say too much invites objections.  And, there are no simple answers
to the complexities we now face in any case.  All answers are going to be both right
and wrong. Each is equally defensable and indefensable at once.

So I try to look at the larger picture and here is what I see.  Our society has seen it's progress
through the world as a conflict.  Conflict between man and nature, between faith and science,
between various failing economic models, various mythological structures and belief systems,
and on and on.  In fact, the source of the conflict in all these arenas is the belief in conflict itself.
There has been, in the last 'epoch' of political life in this country, a heavy emphasis on this conflict.
It has been used to define our mission, our societies raison d'etre, with obvious results.

In the end, the real choice is for us to awaken.  That choice can not be made in a voting booth.
So, I look for the choice that is the least polarizing, the most inclusive.  The choice that has the
potential to create the least harm and to perhaps allow individuals to grow out of the mindset
that has us so divided against one another.  This can not be found in a choice that emphasizes
the demonizing of the other side.  Truth is most reliably found in an honorable blending of opposites.

So, I am choosing what I see as the most loving of the two choices before us.  True, that choice is
a return to where we were before, some 8-10 years ago.  Or, rather where we were some 16 years
ago when we were beginning a phase that, due to the unfortunate human fraility of the 'candidate'
somehow got off track and wound up in a ditch.  I believe history moves, not in circles but in spirals,
with each return arriving just a bit 'higher' that the last visit to that side of the polarity.  Do you think
this accurately summarizes our history in the last 16 years?  I do.

Bottom line, I am voting for the evolution of the human spirit.  And in this election that means I am
voting for the Democratic candidate.
