Ego .................

In Reference to:
ISE Keynote: Ken Wilber

I remember listening to a tape made by Ken years ago. In it he said, "You'll never get rid of ego.  The only thing that wants to get rid of ego is ego."  That helped me then and this talk clarified it even further. As one who has struggled with self-esteem issues and their relationship to spiritual practice, I so appreciated his perspective on how the enlightened unique self can be of service in the world and to the Spirit-Self n this talk.  May we all move in that direction.

Zen and the Art of Helping

Yes I too found it a great and lucid talk. I came across a little book that made the simple point: even if we are helping others for their benefit (apparently selflessly) then it still boosts our own ego needs (to feel we're helpers, to feel we're good, etc.) So yeah, really unavoidable, and that's OK. Plus, in a way, if an action doesn't feel good afterwards, then maybe it wasn't a good action.
