Holosync
After reading everything pro and con on this product, on this site and many others, I decided to give it a try. I'm doing the "Awakening Prologue" now. I am very skeptical but open minded as well. I don't plan to call the Centerpointe "coaches" with my reactions because they are a part of the product. I would like contact with anyone out there who has used this product and who has opinions both positive and negative about it. Ken has given a reserved and contingent "endorsement" but I want more input.

Thanks for HS reaction
Posted June 21st, 2010 by Nancy Chaplin in response to HolosyncThis is just the dialogue I was looking for. My reactions while using it have been mixed. On some occasions it has put me into a kind-of spacious state I have occasionally reached in traditional meditation. But I've had every other kind of reaction as well from plain old distracted thinking about regular stuff, to odd physical sensations, discomfort sitting - all the usual. Like you say, he hammers away about "subjective reactions mean nothing" and "let anything be ok." Well, I think most traditional meditators, me included, feel ok about evaluating a particular session as "deep as opposed to shallow" or even "good" or "not so good." I agree the long-term effect is what counts, and that it's not even suppose to be all about bliss, but I also think it's ok to expect some steady progression in achieving state changes and ultimate greater daily peacefulness in any method.
The same personal changes that led me to make an investment in Holosync are happily leading to me a greater calm and acceptance in general. I'm not sure one could ever quite separate out what benefits are the result of the motivation that lead to the purchase in the 1st place, the investment in sitting for an hour a day listening to pretty sounds (OR complete quiet in traditional meditation) and the effects on binaural beats in the ears. As I dug deeper into what scientific research is offered by Harris I learned it's pretty damn old - back in the 70ties a lot of it. I hope II is working on something more conclusive then that "many Integral users say it helps." Most all Integral users complain that the promotion is over the top - even those who claim benefits.
Well, in conclusion, I bought it. And I'm going to use it according to instructions for at least 4 months. And I'll see what happens. Keep in touch with your experiences and thoughts. I'm really interested.

Does Holosync detour from the necessary intellectual journey?
Posted September 25th, 2010 by Bruce Wilson in response to Thanks for HS reaction(Thanks to whoever for the "reaction" tag. It felt reactionary as I wrote it and bringing that to my attention has me thinking about all the micro-irritable-reactions I have as I make my way through traffic and then a crowded Whole Foods market, in need of some nourishment and a little more equanimity of heart.)
I received the first free demo of Holosync about six months ago with a skeptical but also open attitude. I couldn't get through Harris' long verbal introduction to it. I just wanted to dive into the experience, but he kept going on and on about it until I final got tired of waiting for the pure experience. I never did try it again.
I had tried a similar sound healing method from a woman (forget her name) out in Colorado a few years back who was having quite a bit of success with growing plants with her sound therapy. But I got tired of the "noise" after a while and longed for just silence.
I have a suspicion about Holosync that may or may not be valid. It pertains to the following. I don't think you can bring in wisdom from the outside with such tools . There has to be an engagement with Being in all of its aspects to make progress towards a realization of one's Primordial Awareness or Being. Whatever benefits Holosync may have for meditators is offset by a passivity in regard to engaging one's own Being. So one might attain a state of relaxation and temporary thought free state but still not be establishing a relationship with the Primordial Awareness of Being. Such a method lacks the intellectual journey that brings inner vision and could detour one from such a seemingly necessary journey.
Again, this is just my suspicion or bias. Does it make any sense? Is it a valid critique?

I got tired
Posted February 4th, 2011 by Bill Kilburg in response to Does Holosync detour from the necessary intellectual...Just an observation Bruce. I noticed in your language that you used the words ..I got tired , to descibe why you did not follow through on your intentions. Maybe a breakthrough for you would be in experiencing out the pattern of - I got tired,- and really take responsibility for your experience of- being tired- . What stopped you wasnt the noise, or Bill Harris talking to much . what stopped you it seems is your pattern of- I got tired.-
Breakthroughs in experiencing out our own patterns are just as much if not more valuable than the stuff we want to study .

Critique
Posted July 17th, 2011 by stefano in response to Does Holosync detour from the necessary intellectual...As well as intellectual or cognitive insight, does it develop our intentionality? I gather Wilber said there's a difference between being induced into a state, and being able to enter states at will. Meditation exercises that muscle. Although Harris said also that he finds that he can enter states more easily at will, having used the tech for so long. Also Wilber's mentioned that some people just won't meditate, so products like Holosync can be better than nothing.

Holosync
Posted June 21st, 2010 by Kim LowlesI have used the Awakening Prologue off and on for a few months now. I am very skeptical too. My main problem as somebody from the UK is that Bill Harris seems very pushy and self promoting which does not sit well with me. I therefore am unwilling to go further with it as I feel I am being taken for a ride.
I have found Awakening Prologue very relaxing however my mind still wanders excessively whilst using it. Bill says to let whatever happens happen, but I feel I should be separating from my thought layers in meditation, not engaging with them and this bothers me.
Perhaps you will have a more positive experience. I would be very interested to find out what you feel about it.
