second tier changes the culture
I get a little confused when ken says that second tier changes the culture, that the effects that these 2 tier minds have reverberates throughout the culture. but he also says that we haven't seen the effect that second tier is going to have on the global culture. are there any real examples of this happening elsewhere? it also seems to me that the way he describes the current global situation would lead listeners to understand that second tier hasn't hit the fan yet but that the shit actually has. it's a little confusing.

Posted June 4th, 2010 by Sebastian StarkHi Nils
Concerning the second part of the post, the fan and the shit: I to do think that theres a dissonance. (And I think KW meant it the way you understood it as well).
These are the things that I was reflecting when listening to that passage while walking on a beautiful bridge and looking at the humanity around me : )
1. a) we are in a crisis that confronts us with the necessity to organize different value systems and market systems etc in a way that actually only integral can. Up to a certain point it does so today already. (I think its clear that most global leaders are able to think integrally, even if they apply it to their zone of interest only and may not be able to fully embody it)
b) the jump to second tier should be accompanied, given that at least some part of the basic skeleton of our theories works out, the jump should be accompanied by a motivational shifiting. From first tier, motivated by needs and forced to act by crisis, for example, to second tier, motivated by will to evolution, being needs, overflowing, deep compassion.
So whilst there are surely individuals and small groups living second tier, there is no real second tier culture yet.
All of this means to me that there must be a turn, at least for some people on this planet, a motivational turn from facing crisis to the wish to be alive, full and free, and to evolve.
And I think that will happen(always optimist), but I have to admit, looking at us of today, now and then I really wonder how.
2. What I Know
...Is that we can all contribute by creating salons for everyone, IntegralLife praxis Groups for the practical, university groups for the heady ones and in order to have an academic instituionalisation etc.
Create Praxis Networks with other groups like EnlightenNext and other Integralist Evolutionary activists and practicioners.
Create places to hang around, new fashion labels and musci festival for a new chic, a new avantgarde, a new party vibration etc
So much to do. We are doing this. We are creating the future.
We of today are th pioneers and may help humanity to cross the 10 percent line!
to our EVOLution!!

changes happening in our culture
Posted June 30th, 2010 by Timothy ParishHi, Nils.
I have been watching for changes, and have found "ZOOM'D Leadership: Shifts of Mind for a world of renewal" to be a good source. I found this voice america program when the host, John D.Schmidt (founder and CEO of Avastone Consulting) interviewed our Robb Smith about Integral Life and the Integral Institute: http://www.voiceamerica.com/voiceamerica/vepisode.aspx?aid=40665 , and via the Integral Profile of John on this site.
Almost every guest on this program appears to be someone seeking or presenting integral, second tier approaches for social and cultural change.

Re: second tier causality
Posted June 3rd, 2010 by Daruma MatsumotoPerhaps the main reason why the concept of "second tier consciousness" is confusing to some is because they have common sense. There is no such thing as second tier, third tier, or anything else. These are just scientific/spiritual-sounding constructs created by Ken Wilbur to baffle his followers and make them feel that he is some sort of enlightened super-sage. It's a common approach used by cult leaders through out history, the world over.
When Wilbur talks about "Anchoring I-am-ness in Big Mind" and other gobbledygook, he is simply trying to confuse you. Wilbur is not "enlightened", he is an egotistical fraud who has plenty of money but still wants to make just a little bit more off of vulnerable followers who think that he can save them.
