SPINNING AGAIN

Just listened again.  Barack Obama ought to hear this.  Wonder if he's knowledgeable about  integral theory.  One would think that he was.  Anyway, I saw "Idiocracy"  several years ago.   Laughed hysterically because laughter reduces tension and I was well aware we are on a dangerous downward trend.  My dear brother is conservative...he loves Bill O'Reilly and whats-his-nameLimbaugh...and we did agree that the state of the nation is precarious specifically because of the state of education; our solutions don't mesh much, however.  Wonder what O'Reilly would think if he heard this interview.  Love to find out!

Mmm, now that I think about it I'm sure he'd be ultra-suspicious the moment he heard words like "altitude" and "tier."  Hierarchies are fine but only when they are  conservative hierarchies.  It seems to me that our big challenge is to help people reduce their fear levels since fear drives the conservative, especially the religious conservative into defensive self-protection mode and religious rigidity.  We know how fear can affect the human brain: flexible rational thinking goes out the window along with empathy and compassion for all but one's own "group."  Thank goodness for the people who, for innumerable reasons, are able to avoid this response.

Wondering when fear-driven conservatives will object to educational programs for children that teach emotional intelligence and mindfulness.

What will I do about all of this, I wonder.  Wonder what other IL members are doing.  Are you doing anything?
