How does tonglen work?

I thought that my tonglen meditation would bring peace and understanding, when I was doing it for a woman who misunderstood me on a fasting web site. Instead, after I posted my notes about it, I was kicked out of the support group, my account was deleted, and she sent me some very strange messages that did not make sense at all.

It works in mysterious ways...
