Psychosis.

Hello everybody. It's been quite a time since my last post and a lot has happened since, among other things I was diagnosed with psychosis. I been getting treatment for 8 monts now (both pharmaceutical and psychological) things seem to get better slowly, but still I have alot of questions and doubts that need to adressed.

The main one is: "Is the treatment right", is there any coherent way to measure that? Altought the storm seems to have passed a still get those bizzare states, where cognition and affect becomes very strange and frightening and I cant help wondering am I really getting better or are the drugs just suppressing the condition?

I cant stop pondering about the causes of this terrible condition. My psychiatrist says it's all brain chemistry and pills are the solution, my psychologist isn't in a favor of medical treatment and recommends meditation and other therapeutic techniques. So what I do is I google "psychosis" to get a coherent theory of it's causes and all that comes up is pure flatland explanations which usually are 1) its caused by drugs 2) it's caused by genes 3) it's caused by environment and for me that just doesn't to the trick.

So my question to you all is:

1) Has somebody here experienced something like that and if yes, then how did you get over and how long did it take do feel safe again with your own psyche?

and

2) Does anybody know an integral explanation of this condition with somekind of psychological (interior) explanation/theory included (its seems that all that is out there is flatland theory as if the mental holon doesn't play any role in development of such condition)?

My book which discusses an integral approach to psychosis

Dear Rivo,

My book is directly germain to your situation. I wish you the best of luck in discerning the course right for you, and my heart goes out to you. (Here's the foreword by Ken Wilber, which mentions my experience with psychosis.)

Much love,

Joe

Hold On Rivo

I think Ken Wilber adressed psychosis well here; http://integrallife.com/integral-video/spirit-and-psychosis

I think this is a premium video. If you can't access it and are interested I would be glad to watch it again and summarize it for you. Let me know. At least you could read my post on it.

I will hold you in my prayers. Please stick around and let us know how you are doing.
