How do *you* say "Integral"?

OK, I know it's rather minor in the whole scheme of things, but still, I think it's worth noting how the word "integral" is pronounced.

It's in*ti*grul, or, in*te*grul.

I don't have access to pronunciation symbols, but the difference between the "i" and the "e" in the middle of "integral" is very minor; they are both "soft" sounds -- the "i" as in "click" and the "e" as in "tepid." (And the "u" as in "ultimate." It's actually the upside-down "e" symbol, but the soft "u" is close enough.)

Anyway, I think maybe a third of the time I hear people use the word, it's mispronounced. I hear in*tra*gul, moving the "r" after the "t" instead of after the "g." I'm guessing they're following the pronunciation of "intrepid" instead of "integer," from which the word is derived. "Integer" comes from Latin, meaning whole, or complete.

I won't name names, but some of the most widely known Integral teachers mispronounce the very name of the teaching they're teaching about. I've even heard it mispronounced on the Core Integral DVDs.

I'm just sayin' ...

Sensitively,

Roshana Ariel

funny

Like when people say nu-cu-lar instead of nu-cle-ar.  I will confess I've never heard anyone say intra-gal, instead of inte-gral, but I'm not surprised...

LOL

I don't even want to say anything here. It's just too funny and I experience the same observation and I confess to random bouts of head shaking and cursing about it and I feel like a complete ass.

LOL
