integral sanctuary

this weekend i am heading out to the land in kentucky...driving cross-country to the 100 acres set aside near taylorsville lake and bloomfield, kentucky...

i am approaching this as an art project...documenting the journey and ceremonial "first fire"...as well as building a recessed stone firepit and setting up a campsite for future visits and visitors...

this will be the first time staying overnight on the land since we got it...the first fire built on the land...and the beginning of a plan that has been in the process of formulating for some time...the development of an integral sanctuary...a place to escape to in kentucky for silence and meditation...communing with nature...living off the land...shamanic journeys and medicine circles...and trans-nomadic tribal festivals...

this will begin as a process of getting to know the land...the direction that the sun rises and sets...the way the wind blows...the magical spots hidden deep in the woods where the trees grow large and pools of water form from springs...
