Can We Get There From Here?

In Reference to:
The End of Poverty

I recall hearing a comedy skit where a driver pulled up to a gas station in a small town in New England. He asked how to get to New York City. The gas station attendant told him that:  “You can’t get there from here”.  If that was the case the driver would logically begin asking questions like who is responsible to building the roads to N.Y.C.? How can these roads be built? What has prevented us from building these roads? But the joke is that none of these questions are meaningful or necessary. It’s a joke. There already were roads to N.Y.C.;  it’s just that the attendant did not know about them.

I am glad to hear a superb shift going on here in our community and that more and more people have been speaking out about the possibility of beginning to come together to better apply our knowledge of integral theory to making our world a better place. If you click on my "Sacred Service" folder you will find some on my humble contributions to this movement. I am delighted that some of these posts are getting many yes votes and generating lots of comments. But up until now the dust tends to settle and for whatever reason we still do not seem to get around to getting together to begin doing something; even if all we do is a small start.

It is my hypothesis that we can get there from here and that if the few people who have already begun expressing support for taking action to make our world a better place began doing something together we could get the ball rolling. The way to learn action is to do action. It seems inevitable that this will occur. My philosophy is that sooner might be better than later.

This is a repost of an idea of possible action I posted sometime back;

One possibility that comes to mind is to support Matin Burt; CEO of micro lender Fundacion Paraguaya. In his talk with Ken Wilber sometime back, http://integrallife.com/node/63092 , he explained the wonderful work his organization was doing among the poor of the World and his commitment to bring integral to the wider World. He pleaded with Ken for some integral talent to help him with this mission. Perhaps this is the time to provide him with some of the help he needs?

What other ideas do we have to begin to show that “integral” and “action” can go together in a most exquisite way?

And as to the legion of usual naysayers who will no doubt appear to tell us that there is no way to get there from here let me quote our new burst of energy, Cameron Gallagher, in saying “F@#! the naysayers !”. Welcome aboard Cameron.
