God, Love, Pain, Suffering

It sounded to my ears like words of pure golden beauty were flowing from Brother David’s lips in part three of this talk. I love the way he equates Spiritual development with having more life in this precious moment. This reminds me of the teaching of Jesus; that he came that we might have life and life more abundantly.

David also teaches that God, who is love, is always already fully present everywhere, specifically including the most horrible bottoms of our worst hells. Let us trust David and know that even here Love fully surrounds and fills us. It would also be good to consent to the presence of God/Love especially in this dreadful place. In such places and times it might be necessary to have a kind and loving person show us that Love still exists in a way that we can see and feel.

He quoted the Delai Lama as saying that enlightenment (salvation) does not mean leaving pain behind. Rather it is giving meaning to the pain by using its energy to help others. This keeps the pain from becoming our suffering.

We are grateful for your kind and reassuring words Brother David. May God bless you.
