Gratefulness
Brother David and friends teach us that it's not happiness that makes us grateful; it's gratefulness that makes us happy. They invite us to ponder what's so bad about gratefulness, humility, frugalness, politeness, respectfulness, fearlessness, contentment, and appreciation of our life the way it really is here and now?
Brother invites us to befriend and be grateful to our first nations, the native Americans. I have found them to be a beautiful people if you can look past their wounds.
Thank you brother. God bless you.
May all beings be grateful.

Noticing Something Good
It is unfortunate that it is so easy for so many of us to notice what is annoying and bad and so hard for us to notice what is good. If we were interested in participating in the practice of gratefulness one place to start might be to consciously try to notice what is good around us. So I'll go.
Today was a warm November afternoon and I went to sit in a park beside the Delaware River and do japa for a few hours. A lovely five mile long concrete walking path had been built along the river and I was delighted to see hundreds of people enjoying it. People ranged in age from babies being pushed in carriages to the elderly being pushed in wheelchairs. I was especially happy to see entire families walking together. And I became aware what a good thing this walking path is. It invites people to come out and exercise for free in the sunshine, fresh air, and nature. I am proud to be part of a culture that would build such a path. Thank you.
I invite others to notice something good around you and record it here.
