Huston Smith shared his concerns regarding World Spirituality to Michael. Huston believes that for the ego to be transcended it needs to surrender to a particular path and a teacher who is further along this path. Anything short of this could just turn out to be a narcissist polishing of the ego in a dilettante like manner. When we empower a teacher to empower us let’s hope that this teacher does not betray our trust.
Michael learned that short seminars just do not work in making stable change and transformation. A long-term surrender and commitment to an on going practice is needed for this. Integral Tranformative Practice was designed to do this. It addresses development in body, mind, heart, and soul. The addiction it helps us overcome is that to our old miserable and/or harmful self. As in A.A. we need a community and practice partner to help us accomplish this. Terry Patten practiced with Michael and refined this into our Integral Life Practice.
Michael impresses me as one of the few people who can talk with Ken as an equal on a variety of topics. Ken spoke of the part of our self that may survive the death of our body. Tibetan Buddhists refer to this as two drops in our heart. Michael also shared beautifully with Marc Gafni.
