Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche
I have enjoyed listening to some talks by Traleg. He seems to be a different kind of person than most Western people I am familiar with. He seems to be speaking from a place of great peace, wisdom, and compassion. I am grateful that he is willing to share the wisdom of thousands of years of tradition with us. He says simple things that move me deeply. I wanted to share some notes.
· The long-term goal of Buddhism is enlightenment. The immediate goal is to suffer less and be more happy.
· In our life we need to be able to ride a balance between the relative and the absolute.
· In this World there is much that is positive and much that is negative. What we focus on and how we react is influenced by our mental attitude.
· We can learn to train our intellectual mind and therefore influence the emotions we feel.
· When we focus on our self and our suffering we tend to suffer even more.
· Buddhist psychology focuses on our present which can help us reframe our past.
· The best and happiest attitude we can adopt is one of extending compassion towards others.
· Properly cultivating this compassion is a lifelong practice.
· In these uncertain times embrace impermanence.
· Transform miserliness to being generous. · Transform hostility and bitterness to being caring. · Transform fear and lack of trust to being trusting.

Posted September 2nd, 2010 by Ambo SunoThese notes seem very succinctly written. They affect me some as I read them this way.
