Conscious Evolution?
In the news,
I think the Evolutionary Manifesto is funny. It is as if the green vmeme, having deconstructed all grand narratives, found itself with nothing left to do. So it did what it knows best about -- grand narratives! and proceeded to construct one of its own. That is, after all, how power is imposed -- the great myth of order which its adherents accept with absolute conviction.
Now let's see, we can't appeal to God for our absolute, but hey a lot of people believe in science, let's use that! Plus as an added bonus, the biological view of humans as "just another species", avoids all that capitalist imperialist speceisist crap.
The Grand Narrative is dead! Long live the Grand Narrative!
PS:
I don't mean to troll on green just to annoy green. I think the aim is partially correct: there are "next steps" available, and evolution is partially seen in 3rd person Nature, but it is also seen in 1st and 2nd person religion.
A green-bonded world would be nice, if everyone was already green. But envisioning everyone becoming green, "evolving" to green, is just another 1st tier fight.
Maybe it was written by someone entering green, drawing on science's objectivity and reinterpreting it from a green value, filling the void created by the rejection of amber, with an embracement of green. A next step, for some.
What is truly an appropriate "next step", for the world as a whole, is to go back and pick up the existing pieces and adjust them, like a weak spine that needs its disks realigning. As KW has said, we've spent our dollars on the way up, and now we've got little left to go any further. The foundations are too weak. I don't know how many analogies I gotta make here. We will crumble from below, not because we didn't reach far enough above.
PPS:
I add a caveat that I might be misinterpeting turquoise as green. But if anyone would like to press me on this point, I'd kindly ask they show me how they're not misinterpreting green as turquoise.
PPPS:

I GUESS I WON'T TRY TO WRITE ANY MANIFESTOS
Posted March 12th, 2010 by Pam MaccabeeVery interesting post, Stefano. Wish I had time to read the manifesto, but whatyou write makes good sense to me despite the fact that I'm pretty new to integral theory. Am a neophyte (without the "fight" since it is love, not hatred, that will save humanity).
Warmly,
pam
