Women 'prefer feminine men'

Why women now prefer Johnny Depp to Sean Connery

British women now prefer feminine looking men over their more rugged counterparts because they no longer need to worry about the survival of the fittest, new research suggests.

The result was that in Sweden, which had the best health care, most women (68 per cent) preferred feminine looking men.

In contrast in Brazil, which had the worst health care, the majority of women (55 per cent) preferred masculine men.

Debates about sexism seem to focus on the LL quadrant of culture -- the messages in movies which promote sexist views. This is perhaps because feminism as a subject is often studied in conjunction with literature.

The LL quadrant is great an all, but as a semi-technically minded person, I'm always interested in the objective truths, as well as the subjective insights. Actually, they should both inform each other.

So this article is interesting, for it looks at the LR quadrant and how that might be driving part of the changing identities, roles, and aesthetics of the relationships between men and women.

Thanks, Stefano

Hi Stefano:

Thanks for posting this great article.  Very informative!

And, were I not married, I'd be smartest to head to Sweden, although I'd feel more enticed by Brazil :)
