Balance and Integrity - a way to live
I recently discovered ILP and realized I have developed an integral life practice over the past 13 1/2 years, although it has had gaps and not all modules were always practiced simultaneously. So, I am very pleased to be working my ad hoc life practice into the ILP and that there is a community of like individuals.
I feel fortunate to have had a varied life experience. I grew up in West Michigan, about 3 hours around the "big lake" from Chicago. In 1981, I received a B.A. from Hope College in Holland, MI, with two complete majors: one in history, the other in philosophy. In 1985, I received a J.D. from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I practiced law, always as in-house counsel for a major corporation, never a law firm, principally in the areas of contract law and regulatory law (environment, health and safety). I have been able to travel to over 25 countries on five continents, including an extended study program abroad.
About 8 years ago I left the practice of law, and West Michigan, moving to California, and shortly thereafter began pursuing a career in interior design and architecture. As a child and through my early years in college, I would draw floor plans of houses, layout city centers and college campuses and design other types of buildings. I feel I have come full circle, now having practiced Interior Design for about 6 years and am nearing completion of my Certificate in Interior Design and Architecture from U.C. Berkeley Extension. During this program I discovered I was an artist and have been consistently producing art since 2005. Recently, my partner and I formed our own business, Instudio, at www.instudio-sf.com, (currently in development) a design and art studio where we invite others to join us in developing their own designs for their living and working spaces and enjoy the creating and experience of art.
