the second circle
At some point early in my Yogic studies I got the sneaking suspicion that what I was learning was merely a different phrasing of the same 'techniques' of mind-body-emotional navigation that I learned in acting school. After re-reading about Constantin Stanislavski (who brought his acting techniques to the West to be taught and made famous as 'the method') I discovered the truth that the Russian actor/director/teacher also studied Yoga and integrated it into his acting method.
Interestingly enough, this discovery reduced my romantic notions of what Yoga and it's endgame of Enlightenment is, and re-invigorated my love of the simple art form of 'Acting'. A surprising and necessary reversal as my yearning for deeper spiritual truths came partially due to a severe burn out in belief of all things Artistic in this entertainment industry I wrestle with every day.
I recently found this link of a wonderful teacher in New York who breaks a performance down into 3 circles - which are a similar analogy to the 3-2-1 process and the quadrants - but this is in the context of a performer speaking his or her lines - or as a person simply engaged in a conversation.
I have never attended her class or studios and am not trying to promote anything about it, other than to share the simple presentation, which I believe you all will find interesting...

Posted June 12th, 2010 by Jennifer GroveWhat a great connection! How would you compare this to the 1-2-3 of God as well such as in the Big Mind process?
