Shadow with both elements
According to this description, I can see it being easier to work through the 'annoy' aspect of the shadow 321 process. If anyone has an idea or personal examples they are will to share on the the opposite of that, or a combination of the two, I would love to hear your story or ideas. Thanks..

Stefano
Posted July 18th, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to Success--Hello. Can you elaborate a little about orange achiever drive and what would be an example of a conceptual element you may link it to? How that could correlate with shadow work ? If you don't mind my asking. You can use what you may think will help me to 'fully' understand what you are sharing with me, I feel a little confused, I am navigating the territory and color concepts and what they look like. The book 'Boomeritis' is painting that more clear in 'world relative view' but lately haven't had the time energy to dive in further.

shadow stuff
Posted July 20th, 2011 by stefano in response to StefanoYes the term "orange" is from Spiral Dynamics, but basically, it isn't like we need to read that book, it is just that it presents it as a formal model... So in that model, "orange" is what they call the stage that is mostly about individual ambition, the "self-made man" The model has about 8 stages, "beige", "purple", "red", "blue", "orange", etc. In the previous stage, "blue", you were either born into a good position in society or you wern't, and so "you knew your place" in the hierarchy, in the caste system, as a serf under a Lord or a Kings, or whatever. But at "orange" the culture says, look, you can become anyone, you can become president, it is up to you and your own ambition and skill and hard work. So "orange" is the modern world. "Blue" is the world of Kings and The Church and hierarchies and empires in the old world sense.
So how does this relate to me.... really for me, when I was a kid, I remember I had the desire to become "an architect" or "an astronaut" or something. I'd have a sense of ambition, purpose, desire to go out and do something. But in my teens, when I should have been developing that ambition and finding out about the world and jobs and interests, instead I retreated, for various reasons, and even came to believe that "ambition" was a bad impulse.
But these days it seems to me, that desire for ambition and success never actually went away -- I just repressed it. I can tell because people who have certain successful qualities cause in me a strange reaction. I like those people, but I feel very uncomfortable around them. And I find it very difficult to imagine myself in their shoes. So I don't know what it is about all that, whether I have envy or jealousy or some other emotion, but whatever it is, I do know it is repressed and hard to experience.
For example, Ken Wilber sometimes takes questions on the phone and he's done that with people from the forums. When I got to ask him a question, I found it reeeeallly uncomfortable and afterwards I was depressed all week. So I've had some weird reaction. But as for Wilber, I could just see that as a fact, he's worked incredibly hard and achieved a lot. And that is OK to just notice. But I don't just notice it, when I think about it, I also feel really uncomfortable. So why would I feel uncomfortable about what is actually a really healthy and good quality? So that's why I feel I have shadow issues around that stuff. And it isn't just Wilber, but various other people who all seem to have some sort of celebrity or business success achievement. I met an old guy from the BBC once, a rather famous TV guy, and I was again really uncomfortable around him.

the unconscious
Posted July 22nd, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to [Comment Deleted]--This is what I have found to be true. The unconscious coming up can be quite disturbing, AND yet Liberating, because knowing there is a process happening, and unveiling, a stripping away, a true image begins to form. starting to really see the false self and its antics help to bring up the authentic self as driver, slowly taking possession of the unconscious ship that was sailing along, running into things, hitting ice bergs, throwing it's litter into the ocean, and running out of fuel. It is like an over haul and system update has begun. Well, yes, it has.

Iain
Posted July 18th, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to [Comment Deleted]Hello Iain,
So I am wondering if you could explain your statement below in a little more depth. For example, keeping your projections alive was irrelevant when you saw or did? What did it mean by not being a 'tool' of society?( sorry didn't get this
) And could you give an example of a role you may had to play, of course you can make up an example to. I am learning and appreciate immensely.
Maybe then I'll understand the 'catch up' where you left off. :)
"-- resisting the "rule/role" archetype in myself, and of course, in others, contributed to my ever increasing feelings of being trapped in a situation where i felt my individual preferences and concerns didn't matter."
Thank you for your response,
Tayha

Whats True
Posted July 19th, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to [Comment Deleted]--Ok. So would you say that the grief pattern for you was not accepting or admitting that you too had played these roles? So is it more of an admittance, 'knowing yourself' as having an aspect/ line or level at 'Orange' and accepting it? So is there any action or just awareness then that is brought to a situation you face in this context?
And/ or is it learning and bring more 'skillful means' in those situations to integrate and 'orange' thought/expression, in a more healthy way? And if so, how are you doing so? If you don't mind me asking, I know I am asking a great deal here, and if at anytime the discussion is more appropriate in private message, that is Ok. And on this site, are there any specific links to more in depth of these skillful means? I actually think I may know that answer partially. I have been working on getting through the free lesson from Core Integral 'The Quadrants' and either in here or with the purchase of the whole unit, these kind of topics I presume may be explored. I liked how you expressed the unfolding discovery about yourself with authority and find this all such a liberating path, and see how this has been for you. What great work. One more question, would sometimes this integration then just include an awareness of oneself one has denied, and completely nothing more? I think I may have already asked that in another way above, and I admit to feeling naive and silly. But I must take these risks to grow and connect and find/experience my authentic self. You made perfect sense. In your response, so much so that it opened me to clarify that which I probably already heard, but one thing about 'me' I have learned, I check and recheck and ask, 'are you sure' s lot. Just part of one of my issues, or strengths.. Who knows. :)

skills, action and taking it apart
Posted July 26th, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to [Comment Deleted]--Hi again. Thank you for your in depth response and time. I am wondering though about this which I will paste here, below.
" if you're projecting, no amount of self helpy kind of seminars, or instruction is going to make any difference. as this will all come through distorted anyway. i saw role playing as a kind of evil in the world, a chain put around peoples freedom of expression. now i don't see that anymore, so what was once considered negative, is actually a positive. it's more a matter of changing perception rather than changing samsara."
Could you say something more on this or specifically what you mean about projections and coming through in a distorted way?
I am not understanding that, do you mean like the shadow workshops 'some' offer? Or that the 3 2 1 does not work as well for projections? My understanding of projections is that parts of yourself, aspects of yourself, qualities of yourself, have been split off or denied or repressed. So then an exaggerated emotional response or feelings or 'Love' is felt. So you have projected onto the other person????....Projecting those things that are rightfully or authentically a part of yourself? So then what if that person does possess those traits and you do 'authentically' admire those aspects, qualities, and so on.....Where is the line between authentic resonance and acceptance, and just projections? Maybe I should re-word as a post at some point when I am ready. Not ready yet though... Thanks,
Tayha

I think what your saying is:
once the projection is seen through, felt and identified, then those projections are just a change in perception and become positive things, rather than their projected version which can be distorted and confusing. :) You don't ( SEE) 'project' any more...

deleted comments
Posted October 9th, 2011 by Tayha Anderson in response to revised--I keep getting notices in mail, that there is new post/comment, and all I find is deleted comments. I am wondering why? I had hoped to go back and re-read these dialogs and gain insight that may have not been as readily available in my immediate awareness then, and may have been further down the road with learning and experience, been more valuable to me now. But they are not here. :(

Success
Posted July 17th, 2011 by stefanoI find discomfort around certain people I perceive as very successful and have achieved a lot. It isn't that I dislike them, I like them very much. But I feel like implode somehow, like I just want to disappear. Maybe, as Iain says, this is as much about integrating say, orange achiever drive, but even without linking it to this or that conceptual element, I know I have that feeling because it is very uncomfortable for me and I try to not have that feeling and yet can't stop it. So I try some 321 work with it.
