Shadow work, Motivation Results?

 Hello

Long time Meditator here, I have been a dedicated meditator for years. Somehow as important as I know and feel shadow work is, And possibly more important for some of us, according to the wonderful writing of Ken Wilber. I cannot seem to get into a regualar practice of this. The Benefits seem to elude me, When I do 321 its mostly the short form, in my mind so to speak, I rarely will sit down and move from one chair to another or Journal Face it Talk to It then be it. But I often will do it mentally.

I can very quickly see and recognize how someone or something that I have a charge on or Irritates me, Yes I can see I have the same trait and can come up with a similar quality or  behavior or Pattern, But I rarely if ever feel a RELEASE of energy. In other words I have read so much of how if we do shadow we can re-capture and stop wasting energy on shadows issues and this may help our Growth Hmm? I have yet to really taste this even      though  I feel I have a grasp on this practice Any thoughts out there? Anyway to tell how or if our own shadow work is doing anything?

Thanks to all ILP partners

Troy

PS I would like to see more attention and maybe guided shadow work exercises! and ways to verify or practice.

Shadow Work

Troy,

I have the exact same read on my shadow work. I think about it a lot and actually go through the 321 process mentally without the formal journaling or switching chairs. It makes sense and I usually come to some kind of mental understanding of the shadow I am working on at the moment, but I rarely get an immediate noticeable release of energy.

I think the shadow is a tricky beast and takes perseverance and patience to make progress. That's probably the very nature of the shadow. If it was easily noticed it wouldn't be there.

Have you read the 3 part series on shadow work on the Ken Wilber blog? I have read and re-read it about 3-4 times in the last couple years. Every time I read it I get a little more than the last time. It's really strange. I can almost see a part of myself sabotaging my efforts as I read and try to understand. Like I said, I think it's a tricky beast.

So, not much help here, but at least you know there are others out here with the same experience which can be comforting. I'd be interested to know if others feel that you must follow the 321 process very strictly to get more out of it. Or, if other methods have been more fruitful.
