hi vern

i was thinking about this last night. it seems like the essence of the theory is basically: people behave and/or respond differently according to pretty much all the factors that make up their psyche, value structure, and the source from which they derive their power of choice...so, i think that could be accurate, though in my opinion it's missing something essential, which is a recognition of the structure of each person's relationship to higher powers, or i guess, to God, to the Divine, which i think is the original relationship that actually influences an individual's relationship or response to others, each in context.

anyways, i feel like the color-level structure is way too linear, not that it's necessarily inaccurate, but that i can see how it would lead to more misinterpretation than clarity or understanding. though it seems like it might, i feel like the verb(i)age doesn't seem to lead to increased compassion or empathy, maybe because (haha!) the u.s. is so ... orange :o)

It isn't for everyone

I came here because I started to come to some of the same kinds of conclusions on many different fronts. You can insist upon this usual line about the vanity of the wisdom of the world and insist on established theology or this vague, monolithic subjectivism, that is your right. But most are drawn here because they don't want to throw out "worldly" wisdom just yet as all of their experience from these disparate realms has been useful if not completely life changing at times. That any philosophy is for many a kind of heresy and speculative exercise doesn't deter those who prefer to wrestle with those test tubes and try a challenge. If you prefer the safety of disinterested traditional thinking you can keep it. Everyone in the evolution business is willfully and foolishly headed for the uncharted waters in spite of you.

Dear Vernon

One thing that crosses my mind when thinking about Integral theory is that there are specific minimum requirements needed in order for this particular model to have an effect. Those are, full personality integration then body-mind dropped. Until these two events have found completion, the Integral model will not be of much use to anybody. It is my opinion that studying this material at lower levels of development may prove to be counter-productive to some.
