Spiritual, But Not Religious?

In this dialogue Ken Wilber and Father Thomas Keating discuss how more people now identify as "spiritual but not religious." As Ken points out, this may be because many people who identify as spiritual have a hankering for direct union with God or the Great Reality, they may long for contemplation as opposed to the outer or exoteric forms of religion. Father Thomas reminds us that there may be a down side to this trend, that people may want a spiritual experience without the inconvenience of a religious commitment, and that this commitment, this full-bodied consent, may be necessary to prepare each human being for the transformational power of God. Listen in and contemplate what this means to your own path.
