This event starts in:
Since Trump’s inauguration six weeks ago, his foreign policy has upended relationships with many of America’s traditional allies, possibly none more so than Canada’s. New 25% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, threats of across-the-board 25% tariffs, attacks on Canadian sovereignty, talk of making Canada the 51st state, and references to the Canadian prime minister as governor of Canada, have disrupted the status quo. What is widely considered to be one of the most stable and valuable alliances between any two nations on the planet – economically, politically, and militarily – has rapidly devolved into fear, anxiety, and anger. But that response is occurring only on one side of the relationship thus far – from Canada. Are Americans oblivious to what’s happening? Do they care? Do they even know what’s at stake? In this presentation and discussion, William Koty will take an integral view on the current state of US-Canada relations and why the world’s longest undefended border – spanning 8,891 kilometers (5,525 miles) – is so critical to the wellbeing and welfare of both countries.
This is a free session. All are welcome to join.
