Dr. Connie Zweig, known as the Shadow Expert, will teach a 3-part series that applies shadow-work to key arenas of life: relationships, aging, and religion/spirituality.

March 27, 9-10:30 am PT: Romancing the Shadow: Shadow-work for Conscious Relationships

This interactive presentation explores how the unconscious erupts in our lives and sabotages relationships through repetitive arguments, criticism, distancing, projections, addictions, and life transitions. It explains why the shadow forms in childhood, how to detect it when it emerges, and how to use this practice to form a conscious relationship with it and choose different outcomes. Three examples will be explored in depth, including times for self-reflection.

April 10, 9-10:30 am PT: The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul

There are roughly 8,000 days between birth and college graduation, 8,000 days between college graduation and a midlife crisis, and 8,000 days between a midlife crisis and retirement. If we’ve planned well, there are another 8,000 days after retirement. For the first time in human history, this represents a new stage of life.

What will you do with all that time? Or, more deeply, Who am I now?

This presentation helps you shift your identity from doing, achievement, and image to your spiritual essence—who you really are—from role to soul. Through shadow-work, spiritual practice, and the inner work of aging, you can move through late life as a rite of passage: releasing past forms, facing the unknown, and emerging renewed as an Elder filled with vitality and purpose.
By addressing the late-life identity crisis, you deepen self-knowledge and reimagine age. The result is newfound freedom from outdated roles and identities, a sense of becoming who you were always meant to be, and the opportunity to use life’s circumstances for spiritual practice—aging into awakening—a purpose described in every spiritual tradition.

April 24, 9-10:30 am PT: Meeting the Shadow on the Spiritual Path

In every tradition, saints and poets speak of the soul’s search for the beloved, the seeker’s yearning for the divine, or the Self beyond ego. This holy longing is a secret feeling with many disguises, leading us to pursue higher union in spiritual practice, religious discipleship, or even romantic embrace. It guides us to timeless wisdom and transcendent experiences.

However, this longing can go awry when we project the divine onto a therapist, teacher, priest, guru, rabbi, or roshi who is all too human—someone with unhealed wounds, undeveloped empathy, or authoritarian tendencies. If they abuse power—whether sexually, financially, or emotionally—followers experience betrayal, lost innocence, and destroyed faith.

Contemporary teachers across denominations have acted out their shadows in destructive ways, leaving followers traumatized and lost. This presentation offers tools of depth psychology and spiritual shadow-work to help recover and rekindle the flame of longing within our own souls. It explains why we are drawn to charismatic leaders, what we unconsciously give away to them, and how to reclaim the light for our own treasury.
