Bill Clinton on Ken Wilber: "This Guy is Brilliant."
(from KenWilber.com)
"This guy is brilliant." -Bill Clinton, speaking about Ken Wilber.
A friend informed us that she heard an interview on the radio that was broadcast recently, in which a teleprompter operator recalls talking to Bill Clinton about Ken Wilber and his book A Brief History of Everything. I went ahead and pulled out the 3.5 minute clip, or you can find the whole interview here.
Bev Feldman has been listening to our series about tough jobs and she wrote in to tell us about hers. Bev's job as a teleprompter in Hollywood requires the ability to stay calm under pressure - and the ability to scroll text at exactly the right speed for politicians and celebrities to look their best. This story originally aired on December 4, 2008.
"One of our listeners sent us an e-mail that captured our goal for the stories we tell: 'Thanks for finding the ordinary us and putting our stories out there'
Our goal is to find people whose lives are intersecting with significant issues in the news and give them the opportunity to tell their story. At a time when "celebrity rules" and the only "ordinary" people we see are faces in the crowd, The Story reminds listeners that their stories and their lives matter. We believe that by creating a space for first person stories we are choosing not to accept a pollster's version of our thoughts and attitudes. We've learned that hearing directly from people about their experiences can transform our understanding of what's happening in the world."

We're not alone after all
Posted September 30th, 2009 by Oz DiGennaroBeing deep into Integral thinking can sometimes feel pretty isolated. "Nobody understands this stuff, and therefore nobody understands me."
This story destroys that (self-defeating) illusion. There really are some important and powerful people that get this Integral stuff, and may even take important action based on it.
I'm ready to do another day's work now. Thanks Bev.

What is the need for all-quadrant political theory?
Posted May 11th, 2010 by Diane PerlWith too much going on between the Right and Left wings, one may wonder if one needs another political theory that is all-quadrant and brings with it the best ideas from both the liberal and conservative points of view. While the necessity of a “Third Way” maybe subject matter for a separate debate, it can be gathered from the views of politicians that many thinkers today are looking for an option that is different and yet is a cohesion of both the Right-Hand and Left-Hand political theories. A cross-fertilization of original ideas is the need of the hour and Ken Wilber, along with many other theorists, has sensed the pulse of politicians and ideologists who have a strong desire to find a “Third Way” to clear the mess and annihilate suffering and inequality in the world. Probably, Bill Clinton was referring to this Third Way when he reiterated “Vital Center” in his speeches and maybe, George W. Bush was talking of the same when he mentioned of “Compassionate Conservatism” or Tony Blair was ruminating about this when he actually referred to the need for a “Third Way”.
