Introducing Ginny Whitelaw's
Lead With Purpose
Does this sound familiar?
You want to make a difference, but you don’t know how to do so.
You want to manifest the vision that’s in your heart, but you get caught in fear, anxiety or self-doubt.
You want to live and lead on purpose, but you can’t seem to focus on what’s important or get others moving with you.
You want to pursue a big vision, but find yourself drowning in complexity and overreacting to your circumstances.
You want to bring your best to your family and loved ones, but they’re the ones who see your worst.
Did you raise your hand to any of the above?
Good. You’re not alone. Everyone who wants to make a difference feels those ways at times. And you are in the right spot, at the right time, with the right guide ready to support your growth.
I can help you break through those barriers and tap into the next level of your own purpose and true, embodied power.
Course Overview
1. Become your best self
Leadership skills and physical practices that allow you to get beyond complexity, and make you more resilient, agile, connected, and better able to get results in disruptive times.
2. Connect beyond mind
Since most tension is unconscious, we need deeper tools than mind to release it. You’ll learn practices to drop tension, accelerate Integral development, and open the door to the wisdom of connectedness.
3. Breathe with power
Learn to breathe the way the world’s most present leaders do, which allows you to overcome fear and anxiety, and lead from a centered place of still, powerful calm.
4. Master the four types of energy
Leadership is turning precious energy into matter: the energy of ideas and purpose into things that matter in people’s lives. You can have energy for the things that matter most to you, and use one of the four types of energy, in the right way, for the right purpose.
5. Listen fully
When you listen so deeply you can feel others in your body, when you can feel them in your nervous system, you can lead anyone toward your vision. Listen quietly, and lead from there.
6. Stop fighting time
Get beyond the distractions, furious pace and a time-scarcity mindset, and get yourself into the abundance of time that happens when you resolve separation and stop fighting reality. Bring time inside you, where you don’t have limited time but time comes through you as a source of power.
7. Dreams realize you, not the other way around
YOU are the step between between your dreams and their results. Your dreams matter. They will change you just as you realize them. The future will come through you and will shift you toward the “you” you will become.
8. Be calm amongst difficulty
Soften your resistance and tension inside of difficult circumstances in order to lead with centeredness and relaxed agility that lets you still be whole.
9. Let questions guide you
Flip beyond analytical thinking and “sit” with a question, letting the answer come to you.
10. Lead others
Enter a more connected state, and allow your clarity and centeredness to influence and inspire others more effectively.

What You'll Learn
Module 1: From Coping to Adding Value
Learn how you can thrive in disruptive times by developing your personal power to reframe challenges into opportunities.
Module 2: From Tension to Extension
Module 2 offers you a deeper experience of the two states of tension and extension. You will feel the difference as you move from constricting to extending your energy towards the purpose you have chosen.
Module 3: From Playing to Your Strengths, to Strengthening Your Play
In Module 3 you will be working with turning your energy into things that matter. You will also learn the appropriate energy to apply in any moment to move your purpose forward.
Module 4: From Controlling to Connecting
Module 4 will help you experience the shift from control to connection. Which of the energy patterns are better for Visceral listening in any moment? “Viscening” -truly standing in the others shoes.
Module 5: From Driving Results to Becoming Your Vision
Module 5 will show you how to flip your relationship to time. In this module you will construct a personal time line with particular emphasis on some near term purpose. You will then be asked to feel the difference between your past and your potential futures. In this way you can bring your future purpose to you in the present rather than trying to will your present into the future.

About Ginny Whitelaw
Dr. Ginny Whitelaw is both a leadership expert and roshi (Zen master) in the Chozen-ji line of Rinzai Zen. She is the author of The Zen Leader, and founder of the Institute for Zen Leadership. She is also the President of Focus Leadership, and has taught and coached in global leadership programs for nearly 20 years. Formerly deputy manager for integrating NASA’s Space Station Program, she has a PhD in biophysics as well as a fifth degree black belt in Aikido.
Dr. Ginny Whitelaw didn’t dream she’d become an innovator in leadership development. She dreamt of being an astronaut, and wrote NASA at the age of 13 to ask about the courses she should take in junior high school to best prepare. Treasuring the letter they sent back, she followed its advice to study science, which led to 3 years in a high energy physics lab, a doctorate in biophysics, and a lifelong interest in energy and the human body.
From the age of 19, she also started intense physical training, first in martial arts, then in Zen, which led to a 5th degree black belt in Aikido and her becoming a roshi (Zen master) in the Chozen-ji line of Rinzai Zen. She has led dojo (training centers) in Houston and Atlanta, and currently trains and teaches at Chozen-ji Wisconsin Betsuin.
Along the way, she also made it to NASA. There, she went into management, not space, eventually becoming the Deputy Manager for integrating the Space Station program, and receiving NASA’s Exceptional Service Medal for her efforts. It was while attending her first NASA leadership development program that she discovered, to her own surprise, this was her work. She continued to learn everything she could about leadership and combine it with everything she knew about Zen, biophysics, and the human body.
For more than 15 years, Dr. Whitelaw has brought this rich background to the service of leaders all over the world. She co-founded Focus Leadership with an integrated, energy-based approach to developing transformational leaders and their teams. She has worked with numerous Global1000 leaders and businesses, including Dell, Novartis, JNJ, Bank of America, Precor, Sprint, EMC, XL Capital, and Prudential. She is a seasoned keynote speaker, having presented to such groups as the International Coaching Federation, Professional Coaches and Mentors Association, and European Professional Womens Network. The co-author of Move to Greatness (with Betsy Wetzig, 2008), she continues to teach Zen applications to leadership, in which the ideas of The Zen Leader have met with such enthusiasm, they needed to be written down.
