Inspired by Betty Edwards’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and the insights of Iain McGilchrist, John Vervaeke, Ken Wilber, and others, this unique series invites us to discover a creative flow that gently guides us into integral presence.

This is not an art class—it is an exploration of creative means into the invisible states of being that are joyful and even necessary in times of digital hijacking, AI take-over, loneliness, and social complexity. While the analytical mind (the left hemisphere) is well activated and valued—especially in the Integral community—this journey invites us to cross the bridge into the spacious, intuitive, and meditative realm of the right hemisphere. As Integral practitioners, we recognize the necessity of both poles, but how often do we consciously practice opening to the intuitive, embodied, and creative dimensions of awareness? When all the intellectuals are going on and on about “meta-this, meta-that and some more meta, meta, meta….,” this session will be about seeing things as they are right in front of us, feeling into our immediate, grounded lived reality and finding different ways of perceiving the world within and without. In all that is so complex, perhaps there is a forgotten urgency to return to the Eden that is found in the sacred and sublime through that which is simple.

With Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain as our guide—alongside other illuminating perspectives and content—we will explore what it means to step beyond maps and connect with a deeper sense of presence, play, caring and the simple feeling of Being – the territory.

THINGS TO BRING TO OUR SESSIONs

  1. For our first session, please bring paper and things to draw with (pencils/colored pencils/markers,etc) and tape to secure your paper to a surface. You are also welcome to keep a drawing pad for the full series of sessions.
  2. You are also encouraged to obtain a copy of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, by Betty Edwards (4th edition).
  3. No prior drawing experience is needed—just bring an open mind and a willingness to explore.

PS – While the left/right brain distinction is often debated, this series isn’t about neuroscience—it’s about cultivating different modes of awareness. Rather than focusing on theory, we’ll use experiential practices to access flow, intuition, and a more creative way of being.
