Integral Men’s Group: Forget New Years Resolutions. Connecting with Purpose in 2022
This event starts in:
Next session: New Year’s Resolutions, as we all know by now, are short lived and not substantial. A life of practice that has structure and purpose is the antidote to short-term intention setting. And hammering out a clear sense of direction for oneself is what’s being called on in these meaning-making times we live in. We’ve been exploring the importance of purpose and direction for men. We continue that by leaving more time and space to connect as a group and listen and learn from each other as we share our sense of purpose. One of the big values of a men’s group is just having other men you can be real with. This not only allows us to deepen ourselves and intimacy, but to feel into what our gifts are so we can serve each other and the larger world around us. Our purpose is not something we do in our work (or one area of our life), but in all things we do. So we will use this meeting to deepen our bonds and connections as a group, as well as continue the dialogue of living purposefully in the coming year.
Every session: In general, the overarching purpose of these Integral Men’s Groups is to look at these questions: What does it mean to be a man in this day and age? And how do men continue their path of development in these challenging times we live in? David Deida often teaches that the masculine in each of us grows through “challenge”. While true, it can be hard pressed to do so without it’s complement polarity of “support”. This men’s group is a chance for the Men of Integral Life to come together and find the right blend of challenge and support to better find their truth, navigate dynamic times, and give their gifts skillfully in their work, relationships, and beyond. These sessions will be purposeful, practice-based, and attuned to your unique interests and needs. They will harness Kevin Snorf’s decades of leadership coaching, men’s work, yoga, and MMA experience (and probably some Star Wars nerd-dom). The intention here is to encourage men to allow themselves to be more of the man they know they need to become.
Meet Your Practice Leader
Kevin previously was the Director of Training and Development for Integral Coaching Canada and was faculty there for 8 years while maintaining his own successful coaching practice. He recently took a short- term “early retirement” for 4 years in the form of recuperating from a Traumatic Brain Injury. Prior to that he was also at UC Santa Cruz for the last 15+ years teaching Integrally-informed somatic arts in Warrior Yoga, Meditation, Acrobatics, and Mixed Martial Arts to students, athletes, and faculty looking to embody new potential and find grace in the face of personal struggles. He also spent 9 of those years teaching yoga to at-risk youth in the public schools and prisons. Kevin co-wrote an article for JITP applying ICC’s approach to climate change. He is currently building a school of practice for those who want to impact wider scale changes in the world. And in one of his more remarkable developmental hurdles he got over his commitment fears and got married to the amazing Tami. He has a rich ILP base especially with many Integral Spiritual Teachers, a Masters in Psychology, a background in ecological design, and a firm commitment to finding practical applications of “Integral” that reduce suffering and increase humor.
