Those of us influenced by an Integral perspective generally believe that we are in the middle of another cultural stage transition from postmodern to whatever is next. For me, the very nature of these transitions can best be described as… the old stories are falling away as the new ones have yet to stabilize. According to our current Vital Signs narrative analysis the normal chaos, confusion and lack of grounding we are experiencing during this current transition is being further amplified in America as we attempt to move from white, patriarchal governance to a multi-cultural orientation without violence.

When I left Integral Life at the end of 2018 I set out to conduct narrative analysis and create documentary media about the stories we were telling about the now and future. In mid-2023 our focus at Vital Signs of America zeroed in on a question I never thought I would ask in my life time… “is democracy really threatened in America?”

• How my integral perspective, developed over 10+ years as the VP of Media at Integral Life and the co-director of the Ken Wilber biography influenced the narrative analysis and media creation I am doing now including Vital Signs of Democracy.
• A short explanation of our Vital Signs narrative analysis process that allows us to look deeply into the news stories being promoted by cable networks and social media platforms about democracy in this election year of 2024 using our AI natural language program platform.
• Share our general narrative findings concerning democracy in America since 2016 and what has changed for the 2024 election cycle.
• Outline the qualities of the TWO Make America Great narratives promoted by MAGA Republicans and Harris Democrats that are competing with each other to define the future of America.
• Summarize the narrative analysis predictions we made at the beginning of the 2024 election cycle and how they are playing out.
• Offer three potential outcomes to the 2024 election as we see them through our narrative analysis at Vital Sign. This analysis includes how they may impact the three underlying narratives that are at the heart of the current sea change in
  leadership that will decide what America stands for going forward.

MEET DAVID RIORDAN

Media Director/Producer/Web Platform Designer

David Riordan is a seasoned media producer/director and transmedia content designer. He has developed novel projects for television, web courses, podcasts and web portals for non-profit and for profit organizations. He was the VP of Media for Integral Life from 2007-2018.

Currently at Story Studio, he utilizes a NLP AI web platform to collect and analyze a diverse collection of news and social media platform content containing relevant cultural narratives about democracy in America. The result of this work is an extensive database of narrative intelligence that he uses to develop effective documentary web campaigns and Internet applications on behalf of strengthening democracy in America.

Prior to joining Integral Life he was also the Executive Producer for the award-winning documentary film “Lost in Woonsocket”, and Co-Producer for the “Random 1,” a television series on A&E Networks. He also directed the documentary film “The Future of Christianity,” co-created the web application “Google Ocean” on Google Earth and developed an Obama for President 2008 video ad campaign and web portal.
