In the 1960’s, Steven Karpman introduced the idea of the dreaded drama triangle, which posits that, when in conflict, individuals assume roles of Victim, Persecutor, or Rescuer. As an antidote to this dreaded drama triangle, David Emerald later introduced The Empowerment Dynamic (TED), a more loving and compassionate shift to resolution through the roles of Creator, Challenger and Coach.
In today’s discussions around hot button topics such as climate change, polarizing views often get stuck in the drama triangle. In this session, let’s explore how we can apply the teachings of The Empowerment Dynamic to build accountability, resilience and innovation in climate action.
