Many explanations have been offered for the rise of Trump and the turmoil in which the United States finds itself. But not until now has a comprehensive, deep structural explanation been given that can account for everything we’re seeing.
Join Integral Life co-founder Robb Smith as he explains the current historical moment as a natural and predictable backlash against the twin dominance of the right-leaning Multinational Capital Holon in economics and the left-leaning Multicultural Culture Holon in culture since the 1970s.
Both of these forces transcended the nation state in the late 20th century, fomenting a massive, equal but opposite backlash in the form of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, supported by tribalists at both ends of the political spectrum. This backlash is tearing apart the political establishments of both parties as citizens wrestle with the increasingly obvious failures of the right’s religion of “markets at any cost” and the left’s religion of “equality at any cost.” This tension is all part of a broader “great release” that the American-led World State is undergoing as its internal contradictions and growing systemic irresilience since its formation in 1945 become no longer sustainable. The resulting reorganization will increasingly move toward an upgraded, trans-statal global governance structure capable of leading the 21st century to a post-work, post-AI, post-singularity, post-perspectival world.
