Urantia: A Spiritual Vision with Evolution at its Core

Byron Belitsos Free, Perspectives, Spirituality, The Daily Evolver, Video 1 Comment

Imagine a world that is lit up with the loving intelligence of the Divine. Where spiritual practitioners realize their identity as evolving beings in an evolving kosmos, a kosmos that is teeming with life including all sorts of of celestial beings, angels, seraphim, and extraterrestrials from billions of inhabited worlds like ours. And that these beings love us, communicate with us, and guide us as we grow toward ever-greater expressions of goodness, truth and beauty.

Welcome to The Urantia Book, a spiritual revelation that came into being in the early 20th Century and has inspired generations of adherents since. Today Jeff talks with Byron Belitsos, author of the new book, Your Evolving Soul: The Cosmic Spirituality of the Urantia Revelation, about the principles of these deep and beautiful (and controversial!) teachings, and how they can illuminate our spiritual development.

  1. Hi Jeff, Heidi here,
we just listened to this talk and we are very inspired and will go and get the book.

You mention your reluctance towards mythic and this being the residue of our Christian upbringing. I think, you are perfectly right in this. And I think also that we need to re-view that and discover the power of the mythical stories which, actually, have driven human evolution. They are the communication of experience and wisdom condensed into stories which have expressed what otherwise couldn’t be expressed.

I, again, recommend to you Jordan Peterson who has touched and transformed me (us) in similar ways as Ken Wilber did about 20 years ago. His series of talks about the biblical stories have reconciled me fully with Christianity, our culture where we are born in, by allowing me to understand the deep meaning which is conveyed from generation to generation by means of mythical stories.
And, in my opinion, we are still creating mythical stories today, everyday, as humanity, even if they look seemingly a little different. Maybe today they are called Harry Potter.

Deeply appreciated that you were open to talk about this here with Byron who I hadn’t known before. Thank you.
    Heidi and Mark
